Trump Gets Criticized for Naruto Image Use

(MENAFN) US President Donald Trump is encountering strong disapproval for employing visuals of well-known anime figures without authorization.

Close to 20,000 individuals in Japan have endorsed a petition created in reaction to a social media post by Trump, where he portrayed himself as the anime hero Naruto Uzumaki.

On June 6, Trump uploaded an AI-produced video on his Truth Social platform, presenting himself as Naruto, the central character of the renowned manga and anime series Naruto. This act triggered widespread discontent in Japan.

According to a media outlet, admirers of Naruto voiced outrage on social media, insisting that the character’s likeness had been exploited without consent.

Beyond Trump’s recent post, critics highlighted a separate occurrence in March when the White House incorporated imagery from the anime Yu-Gi-Oh! in a video concerning attacks on Iran, which was distributed via the American social media company X.

A statement issued in March from the official Yu-Gi-Oh! account on X declared that “the original creators and anime staff were not involved in any way, and no permission was given for the use of the intellectual property in question.”
