Germany Voices Concern Over Israeli Strikes Impacting Medical Workers in Lebanon

(MENAFN) Germany has expressed strong concern over recent Israeli strikes in southern Lebanon that reportedly killed civilians and medical personnel, calling for compliance with international humanitarian law.

According to reports, a spokesperson for Germany’s Foreign Ministry said Berlin is “deeply worried” by accounts of attacks affecting healthcare workers and urged all parties involved to exercise restraint.

“Germany is deeply worried about reports of attacks killing medical personnel and calls on all sides to respect international humanitarian law,” the spokesperson said.

Officials also reiterated calls for adherence to the existing ceasefire framework and the implementation of relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions governing the situation in Lebanon.

Reports indicate that recent strikes in southern Lebanon resulted in multiple casualties, including paramedics, while additional attacks near a hospital in the Tyre district injured medical staff and caused further damage to healthcare facilities.

Lebanese authorities say the strikes have continued despite a US-brokered ceasefire that came into effect earlier this year and was later extended.

According to official figures cited in reports, more than a dozen hospitals have sustained damage since the escalation began, with thousands killed and over a million people displaced amid the ongoing conflict.
